LEVEL UP - Windsor Gaming Club
The Windsor Gaming club is an opportunity for students of all backgrounds and
experience levels to socialize and have fun with like minded peers. Connectedness through a
shared interest or hobby helps students build positive and supportive relations with faculty as
well as each other.
Gaming Clubs help students stay engaged in their school community by targeting three
key areas of growth and development.
SEL - Social emotional learning takes place every day. Like sports and other passion
based activities, students learn and model how to manage their emotions, thoughts, and
actions. Being aware of self and others promotes greater levels of emotional intelligence,
empathy and self esteem.
Connectedness - Connections to peers and trusted adults reduce feelings of loneliness
and isolation; leading to decreased risk for anxiety and depression. Young adults thrive
and learn in social settings. They practice important social skills like communication,
collaborative problem solving and build team working skills while strategizing during game
play.
Pro-social values. Team sports of any kind provide an opportunity for coaches to instill
positive values. Principles and standards of behavior like good sportsmanship, fairness,
and respect. Persistence, honesty, fun and healthy competition. ( The case for high school
