The Calvin Writing Prize

The Coolidge Foundation is pleased to announce the sixth annual Calvin Writing Prize for Vermont Students.  The first place prize is a $1,500 scholarship and the runner-up award is a $500 scholarship.  This writing contest is open to all Vermont students (or students who attend school in Vermont) age 13 through 19, and the deadline is May 11, 2018.

This year's contest invites students to pick an issue today where they believe America's founding principles guaranteeing equal rights for all citizens are not being fully realized, and to write a speech they themselves would deliver as president urging their fellow citizens to correct the injustice.  Students should consider Coolidge's examples and speeches in their work.

For full information, including resources to help students prepare their submission, students should visit:  https://coolidgefoundation.org/the-calvin-writing-prize/.
